Advantages of EVOH Multi-layer Oxygen Barrier Pipe
- EVOH is a random copolymer of ethylene and vinyl alcohol. It combines the excellent processability of polyethylene with the exceptional barrier properties of polyvinyl alcohol. Its oxygen transmission rate at room temperature is merely one ten-thousandth that of ordinary PE/PP materials, making it one of the polymeric materials with the most outstanding barrier properties in commercial applications.
- EVOH resin has two inherent shortcomings: its barrier property drops significantly after moisture absorption, and it has poor compatibility with polyolefin substrates such as PE-RT and PP-R, making direct hot-melt lamination impossible. It must be compounded with a special adhesive resin and encapsulated inside the substrate to achieve long-term stable oxygen barrier performance.
- EVOH oxygen-barrier pipes can completely block oxygen from penetrating into the water circulation system, preventing oxidation and corrosion of boilers, manifolds, valves and metal fittings, and extending the service life of the heating system.
